Day 14; June 13; 101Km; 363m Vertical; Average speed fantastic
Pincher Creek to Lethbridge. What a ride. This has to be dedicated to Achim. Chain to the right Maenner und gib ihm. Average speed to Fort Macleod over 49km was 33.3kmh. Boy o boy what a strong tail wind can do. Tim B did want to stop for some reason (take a leak/photo, I dunno) but I told him at this speed no way.
We were due to stay with David & Sonia in Lethbridge so David had decided to cycle the 50km to Fort Macleod to meet us. Well, he had a lot tougher time getting there against the wind than we did with the wind. We beat him there by about an hour and a half and were ready for a third cuppa tea when he staggered in to the A&W (that’s like a MacDonalds to you Europeans but a different company). After a suitable period of recuperation for David we rolled slowly through town viewing the historical locations like the oldest theatre (that’s theater to Canadians) in Alberta and the Fort where the Mounties established there western outpost back in 18something. After this bit of sightseeing we left for Lethbridge, did a few photo stops along the way and still had an average of 28.8kph over the 101km. Eat your heart out you guys in Cologne.
We successfully closed out the day with Sonja and David and neighbours Charlie and Mike down at Pop’s Pub where we emptied two 60oz pitchers and three 100oz towers. Hey Bob we drank ‘em dry of Rickards Red so we had to switch to Molson Canadian for the last tower. Good going huh.

Hey Dad and Tim,

I'm doing my best to up hold the tradition os Father's Day in your house this week-end. Dad.
Have just caught up on reports on the past few days and so pleased to hear you've now got appropriate gear. Was beginning to shiver on your behalf here in the confines of my snug, warm study.
Great to see some photos with blue skies. And sense the strong tail wind in the cloud formations.
I shall let Diana and Anne know of your progress at Monday's breakfast. May your ears burn (and keep you warm if the weather's bad again!)
Happy peddling
Sandra
BC IS NOW WARM AND SUNNY. THANKS GUYS. MY FRIEND WHO HAS LIVED IN SASK FOR MOST OF HER LIFE HAS SUGGESTED THAT YOU RESEARCH THE SOUTH ROUTE THREW SASK AS SHE HAS HEARD THAT BECAUSE OF HIGHWAY ONE, THAT THE OTHER ROUTE IS NOW ILL MAINTAINED AND COULD EVEN BE GRAVEL ROADS AT SOME PLACES. JUST TO SHARE INFO.
LOVE AND HAPPY FATHERS DAY.
SHEILA
hi dad...happy belated fathers day. Hope you had a good one.
Good work on the blog. Sheldon wanted me to tell you that his parents are out of PEI from the 2-7of August so hopefully you are not planning on being there in that time.
Andrew
Tim and Tim, I wish you well and must admit that I am indeed glad you have cleared the province of B.C. as beer prices have increased dramatically because of thes udden surge created by the two of you. Next step will be a fuel surcharge because of the shortage you created. I have warned colleagues in Alberta what to expect as you pass through.
Bob
Yea, checking out the blog site first thing in the morning at work with the first cup of coffee makes for something to look forward to. Amazing photos!! Great stuff!! Makes me also envious; travelled kind of the same route eight years ago but in the comfort of an RV Van. Cannot imagine cycling it!!
Travel safe.

Hello Tims,
just thought I'd let you know you've got a fair size audience here. Friend's of mine keep checking up and my colleagues too. Everybody's very impressed, especially my 43 your old colleague who keeps claiming he can't work too hard because he's getting too old...
Hope everything keeps going well!
Bye, Steven.
Timbo!
Good gracious! That average speed with 20 kilos....bet you'll be slimmer than me when we'll see again. Sounds like lots of fun to me....especially the pitcher afterwards! ;-) The more I sit around here in Cologne working away (although I enjoy my job) the more I wanna get out as well! It's good to have an aim and it's even better to go for it and to live it! So keep on moving and live and enjoy your dream!
Cheers and bye for now
Peter
