Cross Canada Bike Trip

On June 1, 2008 Tim and Tim will start their cross Canada bike trip. Tim Baker from Pointe Claire, Quebec, Canada and Tim Goodall from Wultrath, Germany will begin a bike trip from Vancouver to St. John's. The trip will be slow, leisurely and scenic. We will avoid the Trans-Canada highway and we will take the route closest to the Canada/US border. At times we will cross into the US for short invasions. The Route planned is the Crows nest highway (route 3) across BC, Highway 3 across Alberta, Highway 13 (the redcoat trail) across Sask, Highway 3 across Manitoba and then into the US south of Lake of the Woods To get to Ontario. After a long pause in Thunder Bay, my birth place, we will head north of Lake Superior to Sudbury. From Sudbury we go straight down to Bowmanville And then take route 2 all the way to Montreal. From Montreal we head through Waterloo, Magog and Lennoxville to Lake Megantic. At Woburn we cross into Maine and cross back into Canada at St. Stephen, NB. We take highway 1 across to the new Federation Bridge to PEI and take the Wood Islands ferry to Pictou. We follow the back roads of Cape Breton Island to Sydney and take the short ferry to Port aux Basques. In NL we will take the trans-Canada trail (on the old newfie bullet tracks) to St. John's . We should arrive in St John's just before September 1. We will drink a case of beer and a bottle of screech at the Cape Spear lighthouse. Both Tim's are good photographers, so we should have some decent pictures along the way.
